South Carolina - Professional Counselor Telehealth Provider

Thank you for selecting me as your professional counselor. This disclosure statement will  provide you with a better understanding of my education, professional certifications and background as a clinician, my philosophical beliefs and the expectations in our professional relationship. Also, I will discuss issues of confidentiality and grievance procedures.

I successfully completed my undergraduate program at Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  I obtained a BS Degree in Criminal Justice in 1991.  I obtained a MS Degree in Guidance (Agency Counseling specialization area) from Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia in 2000.  Currently, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) in North Carolina. A Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the District of Columbia (Washington, DC) and Virginia, National C
ertified Counselor (NCC), Board-Certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH), Board Certified Coach (BCC) & a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist-Associates (LCAS-A). A Professional Counselor Telehealth Provider for South Carolina. Also, as a LCMHCS the role of the counseling supervisor is to educate supervisee (counselor) practice and competence as well as guarding client welfare.

I am a Board Certified Coach with specialization areas in Executive/Corporate/Business/Leadership Coach, Health/Wellness Coach and Personal/Life Coach. I have completed doctoral coursework in clinical psychology. I am striving to obtain dual doctorates in Biblical Christian Counseling, and in Human and Social Services.

I have over 20 years of counseling experience which stems from working with students in the Juvenile Justice System, the at-risk population, school settings, and individuals receiving services in behavioral healthcare counseling and mental health populations, both children and adults.  As well, I have experience counseling, providing therapy or short-term problem solving for military service members, military families and individuals who help to support the mission.

It is my belief that the focus of treatment for many consumers will be what the person is currently experiencing. My counseling style will vary depending on the individuals presenting problems. When providing therapy my approach may stem from Carl Rogers' Person-Centered Therapy, William Glasser's Reality Therapy and Albert Ellis' Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/ Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy.  I may be eclectic at times and utilize other schools of therapy when deemed necessary. This will be explained to you in an understandable manner at the first session.

I would like to advise you on the importance of your willingness to participate in your treatment. Counseling/therapy can be a painful experience due to unpleasant feeling related to the presenting problems. *Please contact therapist for inquiries in regards to counseling supervison, worshops or coaching services.

*South Carolina Professional Counselor Telehealth Provider. My credential number is (Credential #232), and the link to the SC Telehealth Provider webpagehttps://llr.sc.gov/TeleHealth/Counselor.html
